The Literacy Coalition of Central Texas has proudly served the Austin metropolitan area for over eight years. Because of your generous support, we have been able to improve the availability and quality of literacy services, including English as a Second Language classes, early childhood literacy, adult basic education, GED preparation classes, family literacy and health literacy.

The purpose of the Champions for Literacy Campaign is to raise funds that will move Austin area residents out of illiteracy and in to self-sufficiency.  A gift to the Literacy Coalition helps alleviate illiteracy by expanding and improving the service of over 70 literacy programs in the Central Texas five county region.  Every dollar makes a difference!

The need now is greater than ever; the economic recession has disproportionately impacted our most vulnerable families - those who struggle to read, write, and speak English.  Literacy programs are being flooded with people seeking services, while the programs’ financial resources are diminishing.

These community programs are calling on the Literacy Coalition to provide resources to help with service delivery and training to help their instructors improve the literacy and language development of over 2,500 Central Texas families.
