Literacy in Central Texas: a Snapshot of Conditions is a two-part review of the need for literacy services and capacity of service providers. LCCT recognized the need for a report containing streamlinged, accurate, and current data on literacy-related needs in Central Texas. For part one, "The Need for Adult Education," LCCT gathered public information including data from the 2007 and 2008 American Community Survey, the Texas Education Agency, the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, and the 2003 National Assesment of Adult Literacy. For part two, "A Snapshot of the Capacity to Meet the Need," the Coalition surveyed Central Texas literacy service providers and compiled their responses to find overlaps and gaps in literacy service delivery.
