GRANT OPPORTUNITITES:
Volunteer USA Family Literacy Grant Volunteer USA has opened an Invitation to Negotiate (ITN) process to support high quality family literacy projects during the 2011-12 academic year. Eligible programs interested in opening or expanding literacy experiences to families of diverse backgrounds - including families of deaf and hard of hearing children - may access the ITN application online. Grant awards available up to $70,000. The deadline is June 30, 2011.
Barbara Bush Foundation for Family Literacy Grant The Barbara Bush Foundation for Family Literacy has announced its 2012 National Grant Competition for programs supporting the development of literacy skills for adult primary caregivers and their children. Organizations must meet the following criteria for grant consideration: • The organization must have current nonprofit or public status and must have been in existence for two or more years as of the date of the application. • The organization must have maintained fiscal accountability. • The organization must operate an instructional literacy program that has been in existence for at least two years and must include one or more of the following components: literacy for adults, parent education, pre-literacy or literacy instruction for children pre-k to grade 3, intergenerational literacy activities. The foundation will award approximately $650,000. No grant request should exceed $65,000. Applications are due September 9, 2011. Grants Promote Financial Education The mission of the FINRA Investor Education Foundation is to provide underserved Americans with the knowledge, skills, and tools necessary for financial success throughout life. The Foundation's General Grant Program supports innovative research and educational projects that help investors better understand the markets and the basic principles of saving and investing. Currently the Foundation is especially interested in applications that focus on the following areas: creating new marketing and distribution channels for financial and investor education, helping Americans manage their finances and investments in retirement, meeting the financial and investor education needs of underserved audiences, using behavioral finance to improve saving and investing, and improving investor protection.

State Farm Companies Grants Program The State Farm Companies Grants Program strives to meet the needs of company communities in the U.S. and Canada by supporting nonprofit organizations, educational institutions, and government agencies that focus on safety, community development, or education. The Safe Neighbors grant category focuses on driving safety, home protection, disaster preparedness, and personal financial security. The emphasis of the Strong Neighborhoods category is on affordable housing, homeownership issues, community revitalization, and economic development. The Educational Excellence category targets K-12 teacher development, service-learning programs, and systemic educational reform. Applications are accepted from January 2 through October 31, annually. Online application guidelines are available on the State Farm website.
Azadoutioun Foundation Giving on a national basis with no grants to individuals and no loans. The primary focus is on education, especially adult education, basic skills and reading. Giving is on a national basis. Funding ranges from $5000 - $50,000. There is open funding with an application.

Target  Target provides local grant money to hometown organizations, and focuses on programs that promote a love of reading or encourage children to read together with their families. Wish You Well Foundation The Wish You Well Foundation reviews donation requests with a wide array of funding needs. Most requests range from $200 to $10,000. Organizations are reminded to base their requested amount on the program's unique needs for funding.
