Programs and Services

The Literacy Advancement Initiative recruits, trains, and provides supportive services for literacy instructors to improve the availability and quality of literacy services.

The Central Texas Health Literacy Initiative provides adult literacy practitioners with instructional modules to improve the health literacy of students. It also trains healthcare professionals on effective communication with low-literate populations.

Literacy Day at the Capitol educates state legislators and engages learners in the civic process. During session, LCCT coordinates legislative visits by over 350 adult literacy students and advocates from around the state.

Outreach and Service Coordination

Our Literacy Services Directory offers a well-maintained, detailed directory of local literacy programs to facilitate match-making of those offering services and those in need of services.

Literacy Provider Councils & the Annual Meeting convene area literacy programs to share resources and information, give feedback on LCCT initiatives, and receive updates on opportunities offered through the Literacy Coalition of Central Texas.

Our Toll-free Literacy Referral Line  1-866-518-READ (7323)  is a bilingual referral service for potential clients to literacy programs.  We conduct community outreach to raise awareness, access low-literate populations, and promote the use of the referral line.
