Programs and Services

The Literacy Advancement Initiative recruits, trains, and provides supportive services for new and existing literacy instructors, thus improving the quality and efficiency of services at literacy education providers.

The Central Texas Health Literacy Initiative provides adult literacy practitioners with instructional modules to improve the health literacy of students. It also trains healthcare professionals on effective communication with low-literate populations.

Literacy Day at the Capitol educates state legislators and engages learners in the civic process. During session, LCCT coordinates legislative visits by over 350 adult literacy students and advocates from around the state.

Outreach and Service Coordination

Our Literacy Services Directory offers a well-maintained, detailed directory of local literacy programs to facilitate match-making of those offering services and those in need of services.

Provider Network Luncheons convene area literacy programs quarterly to learn about area resources, and receive professional development and updates on opportunities offered them through the Literacy Coalition of Central Texas.

Our Toll-free Literacy Referral Line  1-866-518-READ (7323)  is a referral service for potential clients to literacy programs.  We conduct community outreach to raise awareness, access low-literate populations and promote the use of the referral line.
