The Spelling Bee is the Literacy Coalition’s only fund-raising event, and we anticipate attendance of approximately 550 professional men and women from the Austin area.  Not only is the Spelling Bee a great opportunity to address one of our most pressing local needs, it is a great opportunity to present your company as a model of philanthropic support in the community. Throughout the months directly preceding the event, the Coalition’s web site received over 100,000 hits per month, coming from over 15,000 unique servers.  In addition, we print large thank you ads in the Austin American-Statesman for the Spelling Bee sponsors, and last year’s event received great coverage on KEYE news.  This is truly a great opportunity for your company to be recognized as a community leader in supporting the economic and social needs of central Texas’ most vulnerable residents.

Your sponsorship at any level will benefit the Coalition’s 70+ literacy providers in five counties in providing adult basic education, English for speakers of other languages, as well as health, financial and computer literacy programs. These services help address the challenges of more than 225,000 Central Texans, such as the inability to understand the instructions on a medicine bottle, fill out a job application, or read a story to their children. Our neighbors struggling with the English language have huge barriers in accessing the most basic services and to support for their families. Your sponsorship can help literacy providers to support more people so businesses can hire, people can work, and families can thrive.
